A family vacation is the perfect way to celebrate dad this Father’s Day. Whether your dad likes a cosmopolitan getaway, or an outdoorsy adventure, there’s a destination for every father figure in your life.
Here are some vacation ideas to show dad you love him this Father’s Day.
1. Moab, Utah
The towering red and orange sandstone canyons of Moab, Utah are an adventurer’s paradise. If dad loves the outdoors, he will have plenty to do here!
Moab's winding paths past canyon walls mean miles of strenuous hiking and mountain biking, while beholding Moab’s unique topography. Book a guided trip for dad that includes rappelling, sandboarding or exploring slot canyons.
2. Perris, California
Take Dad to one of the top skydiving centers worldwide, in Perris, California, located just outside of Los Angeles. The drop zone caters to both experienced and newbie skydivers.
"Between our fleet of aircraft, on-site wind tunnel, full-service restaurant and swimming pool, Skydive Perris is a veritable skydiving resort!" writes Sky Dive Perris.
3. Jackson Hole, Wyoming
A mountain paradise year-round, Jackson Hole, Wyoming offers coursing rivers and calm glacial lakes fed by melting snow, and breathtaking views of rocky peaks and pine forests.
Head to Snake River for Class IV and V whitewater rafting or ascend the mountains on the Jackson Hole Via Ferrata; the largest network of assisted climbing routes in North America.
1. La Jolla Cove, San Diego
Ranked the top beach in the U.S. by Travel Advisor, La Jolla Cove in San Diego, California has an untouched, natural feel. The small beach is surrounded by limestone cliffs, carved by blue waves.
Home to the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve, the beach is great for wildlife watching while snorkeling, or simply relaxing on the sand. Peep La Jolla’s famous sea lion colony swimming or laying on bluffs.
2. Emerald Coast, Florida
Stretching 100 miles along the Gulf of Mexico between Panama City and Fort Walton Beach, Florida’s Emerald Coast is a sun lover’s paradise. Dad will enjoy kicking back and enjoying world class beaches including Key West, Destin, Clearwater and more.
“It’s named Florida's Emerald Coast for its clear, emerald-green water, but this part of Florida’s upper Gulf shoreline could just as well be called the “Sugar Coast” for its soft, sugar-white sands,” writes Visit Florida.
3. Cape Neddick, Maine
If Dad likes a northern, rugged coastline, that is home to vintage lighthouses and charming Bed & Breakfasts, look no further than Cape Neddick, Maine. Enjoy some of Maine’s best seafood at waterside restaurants and discover why summer is the best time for whale watching in Maine.
Visit the Nubble Lighthouse, one of the most photographed lighthouses in the U.S. Take a hike up Mount Agamenticus, which “possesses one of the richest ecosystems in Maine,” writes Komoot. Traverse the scenic coast on Ellis Park trails, Long Sands Beach, and the York Harbor Cliff Walk.
