The Fuji Shibazakura Festival - Japan

Each spring, fields of purple and white shibazakura, or phlox flowers, beautifully carpet the feet of a snow-capped Mount Fuji. Mombasa Festival  - Kenya

Every November the Mombasa festival is an eruption of bright costumes, traditional and contemporary music, dance and floats showcasing Kenyan culture. Organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife in Kenya, the large-scale celebration also offers a broad sampling of local cuisine and produce.

Carnival - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Held annually before Ash Wednesday, Rio’s Carnival is the largest in the world, drawing more than 2 million revelers annually. Pahiyas Festival - Philippines

Held every May in dedication to San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers, the Pahiyas festival is easily one of the most colorful and unique celebrations in the world. The word “pahiyas” translates to “decorating.” Revelers in the Quezon province adorn their homes with brightly colored kiping (wafers made from rice) and freshly picked produce. The public is welcome to eat the displayed produce. Parades and cultural events are also a highlight of Pahiyas.
