Jewelry? Yawn. Flowers? Meh. Chocolate? OK.

If you want to show your love in a big, big way on February 14, take a trip! Not just any trip: a super-romantic Valentine’s Day getaway. The easiest way to impress your sweetheart is to book a special resort package. Wowing people is what resorts do best, so all you have to do is book the room and pay the bill. We’ve found a few of the best options, from ski slopes to sandy beaches.

Don’t forget to get travel insurance, even if you’re only planning a quick getaway! Why? Because life is unpredictable. Travel insurance can reimburse your prepaid expenses if you must cancel or interrupt the trip for a covered reason. It can reimburse emergency medical expenses if you experience a covered injury or illness while traveling. And insurance can help with travel delays, missing or delayed baggage, and so many other common travel hassles. Go ahead and get a travel insurance quote! Do it for love.

Best Valentine’s resort package for someone who loves luxury

Does your sweetheart enjoy savoring the finer things in life? Then treat them to the ultimate splurge: the "Sea the Love" Valentine's Package at Ocean House, a grand Victorian oceanfront resort in Rhode Island. For the princely sum of $153,600, you get a helicopter ride to Ocean House, where you’ll check into the four-level Tower Suite for a two-night stay.

The package includes a private photo session, plus a couple's massage and pedicures in the five-star Ocean & Harvest Spa. For dinner, your table is waiting in the five-diamond COAST restaurant.

Afterward, take your sweetie for a romantic walk on the beach. Look, there’s a private bonfire burning just for you! Snuggle under the cashmere blanket (it’s yours to keep) and share a bottle of champagne.

This Valentine’s package also includes breakfast in bed, lunch for two, a Tiffany aquamarine ring, a set of initialed pillowcases, and one more little thing… a new car. Specifically, a 2023 Nautical Blue Mercedes Benz EQS 450 4Matic electric sedan, to enjoy at Ocean House and then take home. That sure beats a heart-shaped box of chocolates.

(If you’re on a budget, consider the slightly more reasonably priced For the Love of Nature Package at Weekapaug Inn, another Relais & Chateaux property. For just $119,900, you get two nights at the inn, guided nature walks, beach picnics, a private chef dinner, two Purple Martin cocktails served in Tiffany Audubon Collection glasses to take home, a second stay at the inn in June, and (you guessed it) a 2023 Volvo XC90 plug-in hybrid to keep as a souvenir.

Best Valentine’s resort package for the wild at heart

The Resort at Paws Up calls itself “America’s Private National Park.” It’s paradise for outdoorsy folks: a 37,000-acre working cattle ranch in western Montana where you can fish, ride horses, hike, raft and stargaze. Paws Up offers a special Valentine’s Day Dining Experience with a romantic menu from Senior Executive Chef Sunny Jin and live music from singer-songwriter Travis Yost.

Stay in a cabin or a luxury tent. Either way, you won’t be roughing it: the cabins offer every amenity, including use of a Lexus SUV, and the tents include a camping butler to make every wish come true. For more seclusion, stay at the newest property, the Green O. Stunning, modern cabins are tucked into the forest, each a short walk from fine dining and drinks at the Social Haus.

Best Valentine’s resort package for couples who are ready to commit

Revelstoke Mountain Resort, located between Calgary and Vancouver in British Columbia, has an unusual Valentine’s Day tradition: free weddings and vow renewals at the top of Reservation Gondola. No reservations are required; just show up between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and a Marriage Commissioner will be waiting for you.

Make sure you get a wedding license beforehand and bring two witnesses along. Then, say your I-dos, enjoy a free cupcake and have a glass of sparkling wine. Guests are welcome, although everyone present will have to purchase a lift ticket or sightseeing ticket. After the wedding, dive down a double-black-diamond together. Revelstoke is famous for having the longest vertical descent of any ski resort in North America, with 5,620 feet of continuous lift-served vertical.

Stay at The Sutton Place Hotel, the only ski-in-ski-out lodge in Revelstoke. Or, book a room for your Valentine’s Stay at The Explorers Society Hotel. This rustic-chic inn, in a 1911 building downtown, has nine cozy rooms, a rooftop guest lounge, a hot tub and Finnish sauna.

Best Valentine’s resort package for passionate couples

The chic NoMo SoHo in New York City unveiled something wild in 2023: the Sweet or Spicy Package. The hotel bills it as “a five-night ‘choose your own adventure.’” For a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway, choose the Sweet option, which includes a professional photoshoot, a private helicopter tour of Manhattan, a sky-written love note, a private couple’s massage and a candlelit rooftop dinner. The price? $18,000.

The Spicy option gets naughtier. The hotel provides a private car to take you to a tour of the Museum of Sex, plus two tickets to a burlesque show on Valentine’s Day. You also get some surprises in your room and a boudoir photoshoot, followed by an aphrodisiac tasting menu by Executive Chef Evan Bergman at NoMo Kitchen. This package is cheaper, starting at $15,000.

If neither is in your budget, just book the Romance Package at NoMo SoHo to enjoy prosecco and chocolate-covered strawberries. Valentine's Day week guests also get a set of branded satin pajamas.

You’re invited to spend two nights at the Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge, followed by two nights at the beach at the Lodge of Jaguar Reef.
